Movement of Air

 

Movement of air means airflow. air moves like liquid moves on the basis of temperature and pressure. Air moves from higher pressure to lower pressure. When air is heated, it becomes lighter and it uplifts due to heavy cold air takes its position and the gravity of earth pulls it. The size of air will increase when the air will hot. 

Prove 

1. You read in the news about pressure cooker accident. It happens due to warm air in the pressure cooker and it wants to uplift because it was light but the cover of the pressure cooker was a barrier and a small hole was dead. So, with high pressure and it wants to move to lower pressure and so, it breaks the barrier. 

2. If you have the balance. keep two plastic bags with have some cold air in its both side and after some distance. fire the candle. After some time, you will check the plastic bag which got the heat will light and uplift and other cool plastic bag weight will high. 

Types of Movement of Air 

1. Wind

The wind is the natural movement of air. It happens because the sun heating the earth, so, hot air ups because it becomes light and cold air takes its place like any liquid takes place of the empty hole at a low level. 

The wind is very useful for the transportation of birds which can fly in many kilometers without tired. Like animals can swim in the river direction without tired. 

We can take the use of wind as wind energy. If wind is slow it is breeze and if it is fast, it is called storm. Hot air balloons are used to travel.  Main reason of wind temperature difference. 

2. Breeze

When the air move slowly, it is called breeze. 

In day, there will be sea breeze because on the earth, air will hot and uplift and cool air from sea come to earth solid atmosphere. 

In night, there will be a land breeze because land area cool down fastly than sea area and air of land will go to sea slowly, so it is called land breeze. 

You can take an experiment of this. Take two jugs and one is with mud and the other is water. Keep it on sun and check both temperature and now keep them in the room, after some time, check their tempeture, you will see, mud is cooler than water. That is reason in night air of land goes to sea slowly. 

Monsoon breeze flows from sea to land, so, it is the cause of rain. In this breeze, there is moisture and fall the rain on land area in summer. 

3. Storm

If air flows are very strong and speed, it is called a storm. It may be harmful because it can power to damage homes, shops and other constructed places and trees also. Both physical and property loss may happen with it. 

4. Ventilation 

Ventilation is the human process of changing the room air with outside air. For this, an exhaust fan and ac is used. Exhaust fans throw the warm air of the room outside. Cool air comes through the wind for getting its space.
