I like to work as Tax Consultant so give me some basic idea how I Approach my Client and how I get new Client?

In India, tax consultant is a professional who gives advise relating to direct tax and indirect tax. Like other career options, it is also a good career. As tax consultant, your duty is not only to file the return of income tax or other indirect tax but your duty is also to save the tax and penalty. Your clients may be individuals, firms and big corporates. So your duty is to earn money by serving society in this area.

Following are the simple steps for becoming tax consultant in India:

1. To Get Required Qualification

If you are commerce graduate, it is OK for becoming tax consultant. But, it is very good if you improve your qualification and skills by getting professional degree and courses. Following are the main professional courses and degree

a) CA, ICWAI or MBA

b) Tax Consultancy Course

c) Personality development course

2. To Invest Money in Construction of Business Office

Tax consultant has not to open the factory but he needs good office. For this, you have to buy furniture, building (buy own or on rent), computers and other tax law books etc. Only after this, you can start your own tax consultancy business.

3. To Research on Tax

Tax laws are continually changing. Every year, you will see lots of changes in tax laws. All these changes should be known by tax consultant. You can know all these things, if you have created your taste to research on tax. You have to calculate correct tax. Your clients will pay that tax amount. With this, you also helps the Govt. Govt. needs money for development projects. If Govt. gets correct tax money, development project can easily grow without any trouble.

4. To Deal with Clients Better Way

If you have started tax consultancy profession first time, you should start it with minimum fees. Try to give more time to solve your customers' tax problems. Behave your client with positive approach.

5. To Know the Tips of Getting New Clients Fastly

a) Use advertising

b) Make own website and promote your business through your own blog.

c) Start to take tax classes. With your perfect teaching, you can increase your network.

d) Every person who comes to your office may become your client if you learn the skills of better marketing of your this service product.

    Dear Sir,
    I was M.com degree with Accounts/ Auditing field for past 12 years . i was received for Sales tax consultant licence in 2004, But government announced for VAT Practioner . so i remain the VAT practioner(or ) preveious Sales tax consult application which in this category followed me. pls kindly reply.
